RECLAIM YOUR SENSE OF CONTROL

Therapy for anxiety in Vermont

Do you sometimes worry that you are losing your mind?

Maybe you had a panic attack at work, or perhaps you started crying when a friend or colleague criticized you. You might be constantly worrying about how others are perceiving you, which keeps you from being able to feel relaxed and confident in your relationships or at work, or simply avoiding social activities all together because they spark your anxiety. Perhaps you’re feeling afraid you can’t fix this or that it means there is something wrong with you.
Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:
  • Struggling to get enough sleep because your mind can’t turn off at night
  • Tired from having to “fake it” so others don’t see what a mess you *really* are
  • Feeling alone in your relationships and unable to get the support you need
  • Constantly exhausted without the energy to do the things that bring you joy
  • Unable to be in the present moment because you are always worried about what's around the next corner
  • Having difficulty even knowing what you most deeply want or need

Anxiety therapy can help

It may feel impossible now, but you CAN feel more calm and in control.
You CAN feel the relief of being able to deeply relax and recharge. You CAN find more control over your emotions and responses to stressful situations.
And I can help you get there.

Therapy for anxiety can help you…

  • Identify the root of the problems you’re experiencing, so that you can start to make sense of and control your responses to situations
  • Learn about your body and nervous system’s responses to stress or threat, along with the tools to help you shift out of overdrive into a greater sense of calm and safety
  • Develop the skills to clarify and and express what YOU feel and need, so you can stop living in a space of reactivity and people-pleasing and begin to live from a place of inner wholeness, guided by your desire
I’ll help through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to anxiety therapy comes from a place of deep compassion: I believe that your anxiety likely evolved to help you cope with something difficult, and that neither you nor it are the problem. Instead, you simply need support to help understand the cycle you’re in so you can start to find a way to interrupt it and get some relief.

You don’t have to live life feeling overwhelmed and out of control.

I can help you get there.

FAQs

  • Initial therapy sessions are a chance for us to get to know each other and for me to learn about who you are: how your anxiety is impacting you now, the history around your current problems, AND who you are beyond anxiety. Ongoing therapy sessions typically include a mix of talking through current or past struggles with anxiety, teaching and practicing tools to help anxiety, and education about topics that help make sense of what’s going for you. EMDR is also a tool that I have found to be highly effective for some clients with anxiety. If you want to learn more about EMDR, you can check out this page or we can discuss if this is a good fit for you in a consultation call. Because every person is unique, sessions are customized to each client’s needs. I fully believe the most important thing in therapy is the relationship you have with your therapist, and my therapeutic style is collaborative, open, and non-judgmental. I will work with you to help you figure out what session structure and approach is most helpful and effective for you.

  • My approach to therapy is focused on your individual needs, so how long you need to be in therapy will be specific to you. When we first start to work together, we will clarify your goals and identify the benchmarks that will let you know when you will be ready to end. My hope is to help you reach your goals, AND to find relief and make changes throughout the process of working towards them. Some people feel that they have reached their goals and are ready to end after about a year. Others may take more or less time depending on their goals and situation. Some people meet their initial goals and find they want to go deeper with the work of self-discovery, healing, and growth. What’s most important to me is that you get what YOU need.

  • Anxiety therapy is a good fit for people who are insightful, curious, and open to new perspectives and experiences. Clients who benefit from this work are open to exploring their emotions, thoughts, somatic (body-based) experiences, and ways that past experiences may be shaping their current struggles.

  • Reach out to schedule a free initial 15 minute consultation. During that call, we will talk briefly about what is going on for you and what you’re needing help with. I will also ask you about any past experiences of therapy so that I can learn what has or has not worked for you before. I will also talk more about how I work and answer any questions you have to make sure we are a good fit. If so, we will schedule our first session and discuss any logistics you need to know in advance.
